Review:

I love Trader Joe’s, and one of my favorite things to get are their desserts.  These hand pies have a delicious crust and filling.  The fruit filling is wrapped in a pocket of butter pie dough. We all know the best part of the pie is the crust, and these pies have a gorgeous, thick, crimped edge of dough that is extra buttery and moist.  The entire crust is flaky, buttery, and flavorful with crisp, raw sugar sprinkled on top.  I like to warm up my pie in the oven until it is crisped on the outside and warm on the inside.

Strawberry Rhubarb – The Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pie is filled with a gooey, tart and sweet, fresh fruit filling.  The pieces of strawberry and rhubarb are tender and juicy.  The rhubarb is just as soft as the strawberries, so the filling melts in your mouth.  It has the perfect balance of sweet strawberry and tart rhubarb.  The delectable filling and crust come together to create a perfect summer treat.

Blueberry and Lemon – The Blueberry and Lemon Hand Pie is filled with sweet, citrusy, syrupy, fresh blueberry filling.  The blueberries are cooked down to a soft and gooey texture that intensifies their sweet flavor beautifully.  The lemon balances out the sweet blueberry with its citrusy, slightly tart flavor.  The filling is bursting with flavor that shows off the wonderful duo of fresh blueberry and lemon.
