Review:

Heibeck’s Stand is a Connecticut food/ice cream stand that is open in the spring to early fall.  The food is above and beyond your typical hot dogs and hamburgers.  Heibecks has vegetarian and vegan options as well and a variety of sandwiches, tacos, and salads.  There is something delicious for everyone!

Lobster Roll – Heibeck’s Lobster Roll is made with fresh Maine lobster with a butter-wine sauce in a perfectly fluffy roll.  This is a top-notch lobster roll.  The lobster is fresh, tender, and sweet.  The warm butter-wine sauce coats the lobster with buttery, subtly salty flavor and a hint of bright white wine to cut through the richness of the butter.  This sauce sets Heibeck’s lobster roll apart from any other.  The butter compliments the lobster while the white wine elevates the dish to the next level of flavor and complexity.  If you like a warm, buttery lobster roll, you must try Heibeck’s lobster roll.

Vegetarian Beet Tacos – The Vegetarian Beet Tacos include three tacos with roasted beets, kale, goat cheese, arugula, and a balsamic drizzle.  These are my favorite “non-traditional” tacos.  They are like a warm beet salad in the form of a taco.  The beets are cooked to tender, juicy, sweet perfection.  The kale is cooked so it is soft and tender.  It compliments the beets with its earthy flavor and contrasts their sweetness with its subtle bitterness.  The goat cheese is wonderfully creamy and tangy.  The arugula is fresh, crunchy, and peppery.  The sweet and bright balsamic drizzle brings out the sweetness of the beets and brings together all the ingredients.  The flour tortilla goes nicely with the filling with its neutral flavor.  If you love beets like me, you must try these tacos.

Fried Green Beans – The Fried Green Beans are battered and fried to a perfect crisp.  The batter on the outside is seasoned, so it has a hint of delicious, spicy flavor.  The fried batter is rich, crisp and flavorful while the green bean on the inside is juicy and fresh.  You will never find a soggy green bean, I promise.  These fried green beans are even better than French fries!  Take one bite and you won’t stop reaching for more!
