What I Got: King Rosetta Sandwich, Seasonal Pastries, Coffee

Review:

Rosetta is an Italian bakery and cafe with fresh pastries, sandwiches, pizzas, and other baked goods.  Everything is made to authentic Italian perfection with quality ingredients.  Their location in NYC is right across from Lincoln center making it the perfect cozy spot to stop in before or after a show for a delicious meal or a special treat.

King Rosetta Sandwich – The King Rosetta Sandwich includes prosciutto, arugula, fresh tomato, and swiss cheese on a king-sized fresh rosetta roll.  Although Rosetta claims this sandwich is big enough to share, it’s so delicious I always finish it on my own. The prosciutto is tender with its delicious savory and salty flavor.  The spicy arugula and juicy tomato are both incredibly fresh, balancing out the salty prosciutto. The swiss cheese is mild and subtly nutty.  It melds beautifully with the prosciutto and tomato.  My favorite part, as always, is the bread.  It is gorgeously fluffy, tender, and fresh with a subtle sweet flavor that contrasts with the savory fillings.  The bread has the perfect balance of pillowy softness and moist flaky texture.  This bread is definitely king sized (it’s more like a small loaf than a large roll), so you really get to enjoy it.  The King Rosetta Sandwich is truly a beautifully crafted sandwich from its fresh fillings to its fresh baked bread.  

Seasonal Pastries – Rosetta cycles through a variety of pastries depending on the season.  Their fruit pastries are always delicious since they use the freshest fruits in season.  In the summer, the strawberry pastry has a gorgeous, buttery, flaky base with a layer of sweet custard cream in the center topped with strawberry jam, and juicy, sweet fresh strawberries.  In the fall, the fig tart has the same pastry base with sweet custard in the center topped with fig jam and fresh, syrupy figs.  In both pastries the fresh fruit and jam pair perfectly with the rich custard.  The pastry has the perfect crisp exterior and buttery, flaky interior.  Rosetta also makes a variety of other pastries such as Nutella tarts, filled croissants, bombolone (Italian donuts), and cakes.  You cannot go wrong with any of their pastries.  They are all baked with the freshest ingredients and incredible skill.

Coffee – Rosetta makes amazing espresso drinks with high quality Italian coffee.  I am a bit of a coffee snob, and I found their Americano to be delicious.  I always love having a hot or iced coffee along with a sweet treat.
