What I Got: Black Sesame Babka, Guava Brie Babka

Babka Bailout is a bakery that makes unique and delicious flavors of babka.  You can find them at the Bryant Park Winter Village or the Union Square Holiday Market or you can visit their storefront in Jersey City.  They also do delivery if you cannot make it in person.  If you like babka, there will certainly be a flavor you love whether you are adventurous or prefer something more traditional. It is a great gift or treat for yourself!

Black Sesame Babka – The black sesame babka is a babka made with black sesame paste.  The babka bread is incredibly flaky, tender, and moist.  The black sesame paste is smooth, buttery, and luxurious.  The deep, nutty, sweet black sesame pairs beautifully with the bready, subtly sweet bread.  There is the perfect ratio of bread to black sesame filling so that you get plenty of flavor in each bite without it becoming overpowering.  This babka was everything I was hoping for with its pure, sweet black sesame flavor.

Guava Brie Babka – The Guava Brie babka is a babka swirled with guava and brie.  The babka bread was perfectly flaky, tender, and moist.  The guava swirled throughout is gorgeously sticky and sweet with amazing tropical guava flavor.  The guava is more prominent while the brie is scattered about more sparingly.  I find it to be the ideal amount so you get one to two pieces of brie per slice.  It balances out the sweet guava with its savory and subtle salty flavor.  The brie melts in your mouth with its excellent creamy texture.  This babka is such a fun combination of flavors and textures.  I like eating the Guava Brie babka for breakfast because it has the perfect balance of sweet and savory I enjoy in the morning.  I ate an entire loaf on my own over a handful of days and did not get bored of it because it is so delicious and interesting!
