Review:

T-Swirl Crêpe is a Japanese crêpe cafe with various locations.  They have an abundance of crêpe flavors, some using Japanese flavors such as matcha or lychee while others are blueberry cheesecake or Nutella flavored (and some locations even offer savory crêpes). They are most famous for their Crêpe Brûlée, a cross between a crêpe and crème brûlée.  All the crêpes are naturally gluten-free since they use rice flour instead of wheat flour.  They offer a regular or a mini size.  The mini is a decent size (it was much larger than I expected) making it a great size for a moderate sized treat.  If you really want to go all out, get the regular, you will enjoy every bite like I did!

Crêpe Brûlée – The Crêpe Brûlée is a rice flour crêpe with custard and your choice of fruit layered throughout and brûléed custard on top.  I chose to get strawberries.  The crêpe base is tender with the perfect crisp exterior.  The custard is luxuriously smooth with an amazing rich yolky, vanilla egg custard flavor.  The crisp crêpe contrasts with the smooth cream creating a satisfying blend of textures.  The juice from the sweet, refreshing strawberries seeps into the custard with each bite cutting through its richness.  I love how fresh strawberries compliment the custard’s sweet vanilla flavor creating a combination reminiscent of strawberries and cream.  The brûléed sugar has an amazing deep, caramelized flavor and a fun crispy texture.  I am often disappointed in a classic crème brûlée because the sugar prevents me from truly appreciating the smoothness of the custard.  The Crêpe Brûlée has a generous amount of custard, so you can enjoy it alongside the caramelized sugar and in heaping spoonfuls from the crêpe.  This is an incredible treat that I recommend to anyone who loves rich, creamy egg custard or crème brûlée.  It is a delectable, decadent dessert that will certainly leave you satisfied!
