What I Got: Caramelized Onion Gorgonzola Pizza, Zucchini Artichoke Pizza, Caprese Pizza
My Pie Pizzeria Romana makes pizza with a great New York style crust. The crust is made with Italian flour. It has good flavor and a nice chewy texture with plenty of air bubbles. The pizza is made in a rectangular pan, so you are not always guaranteed a piece of crust, but the flavor makes up for it. There are a variety of interesting flavors (including a vegan pizza). A “slice of pizza” comes with two decently sized square slices. The pricing varies from flavor to flavor, but the majority of flavors are a very great price, from as cheap as $4.95.
Caramelized Onion Gorgonzola Pizza – This pizza includes caramelized onion, gorgonzola cheese, and part-skim mozzarella. The mozzarella creates a nice base for the delicious combination of sweet onion and savory gorgonzola. It is just hearty enough without being too much.
Zucchini Artichoke Pizza – This pizza includes zucchini, artichoke, fresh mushroom, part-skim mozzarella and Italian virgin olive oil. The thin layer of mozzarella lets the flavor of zucchini and artichoke shine through in a subtly tangy bite. The mushrooms scattered throughout add some great umami. Overall, the Zucchini Artichoke pizza is a light and enjoyable pizza I will definitely be eating again.
Caprese Pizza – This pizza includes fior di latte cheese, part skim mozzarella, fresh tomato, oregano, and Italian virgin olive oil. The juicy tomato and salty mozzarella balance each other wonderfully. The oregano sprinkled on top adds a hint of earthy flavor. What makes the Caprese special is the beautiful dollop of smooth, melty fior di latte cheese on top. The pizza is delicious in its simplicity, making this my favorite out of the three.
