Nana’s Green Tea is a Japanese dessert spot with many locations in Japan and a newly opened location in New York City. If you love Japanese desserts as much as I do, especially matcha and hojicha flavored desserts, you must make a visit!
Matcha Parfait with Warabi Mochi: The Matcha Parfait comes with a choice of regular mochi or warabi mochi and includes matcha soft serve, red bean paste, cornflakes, vanilla soft serve, and matcha pudding topped with whipped cream and matcha syrup. If you are a fan of matcha ice cream, this is a a very special treat you must try! The matcha soft serve is creamy and has the perfect amount of sweet, earthy matcha flavor. The sweet, earthy red bean paste is perfect, as always, with the matcha ice cream. The warabi mochi is incredibly fresh with its amazing soft, light, subtly chewy texture that melts in your mouth. I love the nutty soybean powder (kinako) that coats warabi mochi. It melds beautifully with the flavor of the matcha and red bean. The layer of cornflakes underneath the ice cream add a fun crunch. Underneath the cornflakes, you will find the vanilla soft serve and matcha pudding. I enjoyed this combination just as much as the matcha ice cream. The flan-like pudding has a very strong, gorgeous matcha flavor that is only slightly sweet. The vanilla ice cream balances out the earthy and slightly bitter pudding making a complex and delicious bite. I loved this parfait because it contains a bunch of different flavors and textures in one dessert! Every component was incredibly delicious, fresh, and compliments each other perfectly!
Hojicha Gateau Chocolat: The Hojicha Gateau Chocolat is a hojicha and chocolate flavored cake. This is a luscious and unique cake. It is dense with a luxuriously smooth texture that melts in your mouth. I expected the chocolate to overpower the hojicha flavor, but it was nicely balanced. The lighter chocolate flavor adds a richness while the hojicha brings a complex earthy, roasty flavor. This is a great rich and satisfying dessert alongside a refreshing ice cream, frappe, or iced latte.
