Review:

Emmy Squared is a pizza restaurant that makes Detroit-style pizza.  Before trying it, I had never heard of Detroit style pizza.  It is a thick crust pizza with crispy cheese on the edges.  The sauce goes on top of the cheese instead of on the bottom.  To be honest, I am a pizza snob.  I am a firm believer that only New York and Neapolitan style pizza is truly good.  I was hesitant to try Emmy Squared because I am especially opposed to thick crust pizza.  I hate to admit it, but I loved it.  When I am looking for a decadent slice of pizza (or two, or three, or maybe–and by maybe I mean often–the whole pie), I get Emmy Squared.

MVP – The MVP is a Detroit style pizza with house-made vodka sauce, red sauce, garlic parsley pesto, and a sesame seed crust.  The thick crust has the perfect crisp, cheesy exterior with a luscious, soft interior.  The texture is incredibly satisfying with the perfect balance of lightness and chewiness.  The mozzarella melts into the crust in a beautiful, gooey harmony of bread and cheese.  The vodka sauce is rich and indulgent.  The gorgeous tomato and cream flavor is bright, cheesy, and creamy.  The red sauce cuts through the rich vodka sauce with its clean, bright flavor.  The pesto balances out the cheese with its savory, herbed flavor.  The edge of the crust is sprinkled with sesame seeds that add wonderful nutty flavor.  This pizza has a variety of ingredients that compliment and balance each other to create a party of flavors and textures in your mouth.  If you are bored of the same old pizza, you must try the MVP!
